Conversations for Financial Professionals with Dominique Henderson CFP®

CFFP #32 The story of a career changer exploring new frontiers as a financial coach ft Jessica Medina, ESQ.

I get questions all the time from people thinking about becoming a financial coach, especially attorneys. 🤗

On an episode of Conversations for Financial Professionals with Dominique Henderson, I got to share my experience as well as give some tips to all the lawyer listeners who may want to figure out their finances so they can exit Biglaw and pursue their true passions no matter their salary.

Host extraordinaire, Dominique Henderson, helps aspiring financial professionals get started and find their place in the industry through the podcast, but also by providing the FIRST online community built to help career changers become “next-gen” financial professionals.

People don’t typically stop being lawyers once they have become one. We, as lawyers, have sacrificed so much to get where we are, the thought of not doing it anymore is mind boggling! But it’s really not until we really decide that mentally and emotionally we can no longer handle our current position that panic may set it.

If I’m not a lawyer, what else can I be?

Financial coaching was something I kind of stumbled on, but once the discovery process worked itself out, I couldn’t wait to get started.

Listen to the whole podcast to hear about the following and many more!

  • The multi-step journey I took to transition from Biglaw to being a government lawyer to finally being an accredited financial planner (AFP)

  • Picking being a financial coach over a financial advisor

  • My BEST piece of advice for aspiring financial professionals

  • Tips on how to “make the leap” without leaving the steady paycheck
